Josie Chow

Player Bio:

One of the youngest players involved in the Longest Game, Josie is a second-year UBC student with a passion for sports. In high school she had played volleyball and basketball. She enjoys snowboarding and other outdoor activities. But most of all, Josie loves the game of hockey.

Being an avid Canucks fan, Josie picked up the sport at the age of 12. She played minor hockey with Burnaby Minor, and played the previous 2010/11 season with the Richmond Devils hockey club.

Josie was inspired to volunteer by one of her role models, Vancouver Canuck Dan Hamhuis. Despite Hamhuis’s busy hockey schedule, he made time to give back to the community as well as internationally as he travelled to Haiti. This made Josie think “if he can find time to make a difference, so can I”.

In her search for volunteer opportunities, Josie came across an advertisement for the Longest Game 4 Cystic Fibrosis and then learnt more of the story of Eva in the documentary “65 Red Roses”. Fundraising and creating awareness for such a great cause through the game of hockey… Josie could not have found a better opportunity to help make a difference.
