Volunteer Bio:
Seems like I’ve know what CF is my whole life.
My mom, Janna went to school with Janet Brine, Eva’s mom and have been dear friends since childhood. I’d always known about Eva’s struggles off and on in her life but had never thought what it would mean if CF one day meant Cure Found for Eva. That changed in the summer of 2001 when my brother Jordan, at 17 years old was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. People wonder how it could have gone 17 years undiagnosed, but for Jordie who is unique himself, has a unique form of CF. Struggles that for years were so perplexing to doctors, finally had a name. I’m not sure what was worse, knowing that he had CF and that there was no cure or the fact this disease was now at the forefront of my family to deal with day in and day out.
Needless to say, when I got a call from Lindsay whom I played Ringette & Hockey with for years, I knew I needed to get involved. That’s when I met Val. . .And what I can say, she rocks!! Hearing about her connection with CF and also knowing that she wanted to raise awareness hits close to home with me. Everything that I’ve known about Eva over her lifetime had always been an inspiration but I myself never knew what I could do to help. So here I am and although I won’t be playing, I am going to be there at the forefront for the 10 days as one of the key committee members. I am prepared to do just about anything that needs to be done. . .I will do your laundry or make a midnight McDonald’s run – cause for me. . .these 40 women who are going to give up 10 days of their life for Eva who lost hers and so that my brother can continue to live his, make them all my heroes!!
So this is where you come in. . .step up and DONATE now and let’s kick some CF butt ~ CF = Cure Found 2011.
